Danny
Wong and his EL250
Danny writes: "Hi Steve,
my name is Danny Wong from Malaysia. I am a Malaysian
Chinese. Was surfing along for Kawasaki bikes when I came to your site. Just bought myself a 1995 VN800 which had done only
1715 km. The previous owner was a busy businessman who hadn’t the time for it. Boy, am I really proud of my
new gleaming machine. Paid RM16,000 for it. Comes with a pair of original Kawa leather
saddlebags, (had to modify the straps).
If the pound exchange rate is 5.5 times, then I’ve paid
about £2,909. A new one would’ve cost about RM33,000. A Classic is about RM55,000 in Malaysia. Haven’t seen any Drifter in the
local market yet.
When I first noticed it, (on a friend’s recommendation), it was resting on two flat tyres and the road tax had
expired two years ago. Had to pump in air, jump start it and rode it illegally,
(without insurance) to my mechanic and changed the oil, (Petro-Canada 10w-40),
& two new tyres, (the old had good threads but cracked up all over the sidewall). And
with new back number plate holder, matching colour twin air horn, SS eagle handle
bars and a few other small items. I don’t have a photo yet, coming soon.
Before this I was riding a Kawasaki EL250. Photo attached. Good bike too. Had 20,000 km on it for the
last 5 years. Waiting to sell if off when the right price comes along.
Guess that’s all for now."
bye Danny.
