Mark Limb, and his Vulcan 800B2

Mark writes : - "I've been riding since the age of 17 and always had my sights set on a Harley.  My last bike was a Yamaha Virago and I had reached a point where I was just about to trade it in for a new FLH Lowrider when I spotted an old VN 800 in the showroom at Riders in Bridgewater.

I've always rated the Japs for reliability and the more I looked at the bike the more I wanted one.  At over £10,000 for the Harley and the current price of a new VN being half that was the deciding factor really.  I shopped around at many Bike shops in my area and to my dismay found that even the Kawasaki dealer in Bristol only had one VN which was second hand.  I ended up at a small shop in Bristol called Wheeltorque and they told me they could get the VN of my choice in 10 days but it would be imported and a lot cheaper than any other place I tried.

From the catalogue I liked the look of the Ebony/Ivory colour scheme and I wanted a classic as I liked the big mudguards. Sure enough within 10 days I took delivery of my Bike, that was 18 months ago now. It's the first new vehicle I've ever purchased and is my pride and joy.  I want to fit a Mustang saddle and perhaps some loud pipes but up until now I can't bring myself to put a spanner on the bike.  It's a great ride, enough power for me and plenty of cruiseability.

The funny thing is I get Harley riders acknowledge me on the road.  It does look a bit like a Fatboy from the front with the big yoke and wide front wheel and the colour scheme is really retro which I love since I am into the 50's scene. On the whole I'm well pleased with my Kawasaki, if I do ever change it, it'll probably be to buy a 1500, but for now I'm still as happy as the day I picked it up.  I must admit though I do like the look of the Drifter so who knows.
