Tom writes : - " I started my biking days on a 250cc Royal
Enfield Continental GT which was immaculate until I got my
hands on it, I progressed onto a 250cc Honda CB72, Ducati
250cc, Norton 500cc, B.S.A. 650cc, Honda CX500, Triton 650cc
( all my own work ), 2x Honda VFR 750cc, Triumph 900cc Speed
Triple, then the wife said it was time stop playing with the
plastic missiles and get something we could both enjoy. So out we
went looking for a cruiser.
We started off with a Honda VF750C, this 4 cylinder custom version of the VFR 750 had plenty of power, handled well but passenger comfort was not there, so it was exchanged for a Yamaha XV 1100 Virago which did us proud for a few years until I read a report in The Back Street Heroes about the bike which was road tested to The Faro Rally 1998. This was the VN 1500 Classic Tourer ( Nomad ). That was it I had to have one. But, to my disbelief I could not get one in Bonnie Scotland so after a few phone calls one was being sent up to me from my new friends at MotorCycle City.
Since we took delivery of the Nomad we cannot wait until we have any spare time, because every spare moment is taken up with finding new roads to travel on and believe you me there are some beautiful roads up here for bikes.
My wife and I are in our mid to late forties and have enjoyed our bike riding for the last 30 years and now that the boys are grown up we intend to do a lot more touring, rallying and partying. "
